Broadband fees and charges

When you choose an Origin broadband plan, there may be additional fees and charges that we need to pass on to you. The charges depend on where you live, the technology we’re connecting, installation requirements and if you live in a new development area (this applies to nbn™ broadband and fibre connections).

What to expect on your first bill

This might include charges like your monthly charge in advance, a portion of your monthly charge, line connection, set-up charges, modem and delivery fees.

nbn™ fees

nbn™ New Development Fee

This is a one-off installation charge (set by nbn co.) that applies to homes in newly constructed areas.

nbn™ new line fee for FTTB, FTTC and FTTN connections

Applies to Fibre to the Basement (FTTB), Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) or Fibre to the Node (FTTN) connections with no existing active voice service.

Moving your nbn™ service to a new address

This fee is payable if you're moving to a new address.

$165 (plus any new connection or nbn™ fees).

Set-up fees

We charge this fee to set up your Origin broadband account. The same fees apply to ADSL, Fibre and nbn™ connections. Separate charges may apply if you require a phone line to be connected.

Phone activation fees 

You may be charged if we need to activate your phone line (excludes brand new houses or apartments), or if a technician needs to connect or install a phone line. 

$59 – $240 (depending on how much work we need to do and how complex the cable work is).

Moving ADSL or fibre to a new address 

This fee is payable if you're moving to a new address. 

$165 (plus any new line or new development fees that applies to nbn™ and Fibre connections).

Fibre New Development Fee 

If your home is in a new development area and not connected to the OptiComm Fibre network, OptiComm may charge you this fee to get your home connected.

$150 – $1500 (if this fee is charged, you'll need to pay it directly to the network provider or your Origin Broadband invoice).

Moving Fibre to a new address 

This fee is payable if you're moving to a new address. 

$165 (plus any new line or new development fees that applies to Fibre connections).

Part-month charge 

Your first bill will include a part-month charge, depending on when you
first started your plan in the billing month. This is calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Applies if you change your mind after any applicable 'cooling off' period and
if the order is accepted by our wholesale carrier.

Early termination charges

You can exit your broadband plan at any time. However, you’ll still be charged until the end of your current billing period and an early termination fee will apply, depending on when you end your plan.
