Origin and Melbourne City FC team up on solar and battery install

When Melbourne City Football Club (FC) planned their new home at Casey Fields, they wanted to make sure it was built with the future in mind.

They teamed up with Origin Zero to install solar panels and battery storage at the newly-constructed City Football Academy Melbourne at Casey Fields, which is now officially open.

The 40 kW solar system is expected to generate approximately 50 MWh of electricity annually, which is equivalent to powering 10 Australian homes for a year. It is estimated to reduce almost 40 tonnes of CO2 emissions in its first year alone*.

Additionally, a 13.5 kW Tesla Powerwall 2 battery has been installed to help power the facility at night, including for field lighting.
