Origin is aware that Mr Viktor Vekselberg, the owner of Lamesa Holdings, has been designated under Australian sanctions law.
Lamesa Holdings is a minority shareholder of Falcon Oil & Gas, the parent company of Origin’s joint venture partner in the Beetaloo Basin, Falcon Oil & Gas Australia. Falcon Oil & Gas Australia is the junior partner in the Beetaloo Basin joint venture (22.5 per cent), while Origin is majority owner (77.5 per cent) and operator, with control over all activities.
Neither Lamesa Holdings nor Mr Vekselberg are a party to the Beetaloo Basin joint venture. They have no role in, involvement or dealings with, Origin or the Beetaloo Basin joint venture.
Clarification is being sought from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on any implications of the sanctions for Origin.
Origin reiterates that it is appalled by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and will comply with all Australian rules and laws.
