Michael and Vanessa share some tips on how to save money with off peak power.
Hi guys, Vanessa and Michael from Origin here today.
We’re going to go through a few ways you can save money with off-peak power.
Peak power is a bit like peak hour traffic. Just like there are certain times of the day where demand for the road is higher, there are certain times of the day where demand for power is also higher.
Off-peak energy times are those times when most people aren’t using as much power and so you can get your energy at a reduced rate. We’ll provide a link in the comments [here] for where you can find more info on tariffs times.
Charging your devices such as your phones, laptops and tablets during the off-peak period is a simple way to save energy.
Try to avoid putting things on like the dishwasher or washing machine in the morning, or just after dinner. Instead try and do this just before you go to bed and remember there’s lots of devices that have inbuilt timers so remember to have them run during off-peak periods.
If you have an electric hot water system, aim to have a shower just before bed.
And it’s unlikely that you’re going to want to bake a cake in the middle of the night, but these are some easy and simple things that you can do to help make the most of your off peak energy.
