Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme – 44c/kWh rate

Important information: The 44c/KWh QLD Solar Bonus Scheme closed to existing applicants on 30 June 2013. For more details regarding the eligibility and application process please visit QLD Solar Bonus Scheme website.

1 July 2008 to 9 July 2012

If you have an eligible solar electricity system and successfully applied to the Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme (SBS) between 1 July 2008 and 9 July 2012 you are eligible to receive a FIT of 44c/kWh.

You can remain on the scheme until 30 June 2028 as long as you continue to meet the relevant eligibility requirements.

If you are participating in the 44c/KWh SBS you will also receive our voluntary FIT rate of 6c/kWh*. This takes the total FIT to 50c/kWh for any solar electricity exported to the grid.

Important information about your eligibility to the 44 c/kWh SBS

You should be aware that the following changes at your property or to your electricity account can cause you to become ineligible for the 44c/kWh SBS:

  • Upgrading or increasing the capacity of your inverter above the original inverter capacity stated in the original network connection agreement will automatically make you ineligible for the 44 c/kWh SBS.
    • If you upgrade your inverter capacity but the inverter capacity is still under 5kW, you will be transferred to the 8c/kWh SBS.
    • If you upgrade your inverter capacity and the inverter capacity is over 5kW, you will be ineligible for both the 44c/kWh and 8c/kWh SBS.
  • Any change to the name on your electricity account where the solar electricity system is installed means you will become ineligible for the 44c/kWh SBS. This applies to adding a new person to the electricity account or to new tenants moving into the property. The electricity distributor will automatically transfer you onto the 8c/kWh SBS.
  • You can switch electricity retailers under the 44c/kWh SBS but you must ensure there are no changes to the account holder’s name during the transfer process and that you continue to meet the relevant scheme eligibility requirements.

For more information about the QLD SBS, please visit the QLD Solar Bonus Scheme website.
