Meter works administration fee

Origin’s meter works administration fee applies to customers on electricity market contracts.   

This fee may be charged where a customer requests a change, removal or installation of an electricity meter. It is to arrange metering-related goods or services for you with a meter provider (MP) or distributor.  

The fee is $60.50 (incl GST) for ACT, NSW, QLD, SA and VIC customers.

Why is Origin charging this fee?

This fee is to cover the administration costs that are associated with coordinating and processing a customer-initiated electricity meter request.

The fee may be charged when a customer requests a change, removal or installation of an electricity meter; for example, an alteration to an electricity meter due to a solar installation.

I’m on a Standing contract. Does the fee affect me?
No. Customers on Standing contracts aren’t impacted by a meter works administration fee, and there’s no amendment to your Standing contract.
Is Origin the only retailer charging this fee?
We can’t comment on whether other retailers have a meter works administration fee or have varied their electricity contracts.
