Our standing offer electricity and natural gas prices will change on 1 January 2022 for Victorian residential and small business customers on a standard retail contract.
Our electricity prices will also change on 1 January 2022 for market contract customers on some legacy variable market contracts.
On 1 January 2022, the charges for a small number of Victorian embedded electricity customers on OC Energy contracts will also change.
Gas hot water and unmetered appliances services charges will change in Victoria on 1 January 2022 for customers on OC Energy contracts.
There are some upcoming changes to our natural gas prices on 1 February 2022 for Victorian residential and small business customers on a market contract.

How will I be notified about the electricity and natural gas changes?
Electricity and natural gas changes from 1 January 2022 – for customers on standard retail contracts
Victorian electricity and natural gas standing offer prices will change on 1 January 2022.
If you’re an electricity or natural gas residential customer affected by the price change or a small business customer consuming less than 40MWh/year, you should receive an email or letter from us about the change prior to 1 January 2022.
The letter will show what you currently pay, compared to your new rates. We’ve also included information about your annual savings/costs, and whether you are currently on the right plan for you.
Your new charges will be listed on your first bill after 1 January 2022. You’ll also receive a message on your bill from this date.
The natural gas price change for our standing offers was published in the Victorian Government Gazette and in the Herald Sun on 1 December 2021.
Electricity changes from 1 January 2022 – for some customers on variable rate market contracts
If you’re an existing Victorian electricity residential customer affected by the price change or a small business customer consuming less than 40MWh/year, you should receive an email or letter from us about the change prior to 1 January 2022.
The letter shows what you previously paid, compared to your new rates. We’ve also included information about your annual savings/costs, and whether you are currently on the right plan for you.
Your new charges will be listed on your first bill after 1 January 2022.
Why are prices changing again on 1 January?
For Vic electricity customers on a standard retail contract: The change on 1 January 2022 is in line with a change in the Victorian Default Offer.
For Vic natural gas customers on a standard retail contract: The increase in your natural gas charges on 1 January 2022 is primarily due to an increase in what it costs us to purchase and supply this gas to you.
Are natural gas prices changing?
Natural gas prices are changing on 1 January 2022 for Victorian customers on standard retail contracts.
For Victorian natural gas customers on market contracts, prices will be changing on 1 February 2022 and we’ll provide more information on this change in the coming weeks.
I’ve got GreenPower. Have GreenPower prices changed?
No. There’s no change to our GreenPower electricity charges on 1 January 2022 for any percentage options i.e. 10%, 20%, 25%, 50% and 100%.
I’ve got solar. Have feed-in tariff rates changed?
Our Victorian standard retailer feed-in tariff rate recently changed on 1 July 2021, from 10.2c/kWh to 6.7c/kWh (GST inclusive, if any). You should have received a letter or email from us in June 2021 about this change.
I’m on an embedded electricity tariff. Are my prices changing?
Yes, if you are on OC Energy terms and conditions. On 1 January 2022, the prices for embedded electricity customers on an OC Energy contract will change. Affected customers will be notified via email or letter and message on their bill from this date.
I’ve got gas hot water. Have prices changed?
Gas hot water and unmetered appliances services charges in Victoria will change on 1 January 2022 for hot water and unmetered gas appliance customers on OC Energy terms and conditions.
When do prices usually change?
We change our electricity and natural gas prices occasionally and will let you know when we do. Prices include GST.
What is a standing contract?
A standing contract is a regulated contract. Electricity prices are set at a standing offer rate which for Victorian customers matches or is calculated in line with the Victorian Default Offer pricing.
What is a market contract?
If you’re on a discounted energy plan then you are on a market contract.
Is there any relief for customers during COVID-19?
Yes. We’re continuing to provide additional support to customers who’ve been financially impacted by COVID-19.
