Monthly Billing
Frequently Asked Questions

How does monthly billing work?

You’ll get smaller electricity bills more often – a great way to avoid unpleasant bill surprises. Seeing your energy bill more often can also help you come up with ways to make changes in your household before your next bill.

Can I get monthly billing on my natural gas account?

Monthly billing is only available for electricity customers with a remotely read digital meter. It’s not available for natural gas, hot water and basic metered electricity customers – but we do offer other products and services such as EasiPay which you may be eligible for to help you manage your energy bills.

If I choose monthly billing, can I change back to quarterly bills if I change my mind?

Of course – just give us a call on 13 24 61. We’re around 7 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday and 9 am to 5 pm Saturday.

What happens to my direct debit?

If we usually deduct the total bill amount each quarter, this will automatically continue but on your monthly bill due date.

Will my my concession be affected?

If you’ve got a concession rebate on your account, this will continue as usual.

How will I receive my bill?

You’ll continue to receive your bills by email, unless you choose to get them by post. You can change your preferences at any time – but remember, if you choose to get your bills by post, you may be charged a fee of up to $1.75 for each paper bill (excludes NSW).

Can I choose my bill date?

No, you can’t choose your bill date – but your monthly bills will be issued around the same day of the month as your current bills. For eg. if your last bill was issued on the 27th of the month, you’ll get your monthly bills around the 27th of each month moving forward.

How long will I have to pay my bill?

You’ll have the same time to pay your monthly bill as you do your quarterly bill.

How long will it take for the change to be made?

It’ll take around two weeks for us to make the change in our systems from the time we receive your form.

What should I expect on my next bill?

Your next bill may be shorter or longer than a month to bring you in line with a monthly billing cycle. For eg. if you still have 6 weeks to go in your quarterly bill cycle, your next bill will be for up to 8 weeks and the bill after that will be your first monthly bill.

Will it cost me more to go on monthly billing?

You won’t be charged for monthly billing – but keep in mind that some fees such as credit card, over the counter and paper bill fees may apply to each monthly bill.
