Remove electricity supply
To make a request to remove your electricity supply, follow the steps according to your meter type:
Basic meters where your electricity distributor is Essential, Ausgrid or Endeavour
- Contact an accredited electrician who will arrange to remove your electricity supply and meter
Smart meters, meters owned by a Meter Provider, or if you’re unsure what meter you have
- Complete a remove supply request through either:
- Origin Connect, if you're registered, or
- Our online remove supply request form
- Once that’s received, we’ll get in touch with the distributor. There may be delays if the request is inaccurate or missing information.
Important: if someone at the address uses, or has used a life support machine, we won't be able to process your request to remove supply until 15 business days after we have sent a de-registration letter.
Remove natural gas supply
To remove your natural gas supply, please call us on 1300 132 480. These requests usually take around 20 working days.
Remove LPG supply
To remove an LPG supply, visit our LPG website.
Remove electricity supply

Remove electricity supply
The process in Victoria varies for different electricity distributors. If you’re not sure who your distributor is, find your distributor.
CitiPower & PowerCor customers
If the distributor is CitiPower or PowerCor, you will need to submit your request to remove an electricity supply via their eConnect Portal.
AusNet, Jemena, and United Energy customers
To request for your electricity supply to be removed:
- The electrical contractor needs to complete an VESI Abolishment form.
- Complete a remove supply request through either:
- Origin Connect, if you're registered, or
- Our online remove supply request form
- Once that’s received, we’ll get in touch with the distributor. There may be delays if the request is inaccurate or is missing information.
