When Tom walks through the doors of one of Origin’s head offices, or the gates of an Origin LPG terminal, he can never be too sure what the day will present – and for Tom, this is just one of the many ways working for Origin energises him.
In the 12 years Tom has worked for Origin, he’s worn many hats, both as a consultant in our contact centre, a team leader and now as the National Business Development manager for LPG.
Tom said “I love my role, no 2 days are ever the same. I can go from speaking to customers, presenting at a conference, training new sales teams, or visiting one of our terminals and speaking to the drivers.” Tom knows that in his role he needs to be able to communicate with people and understand multiple points of view, and it’s with his volunteering experience he’s really learnt how best to reach people.
Tom said, “I’ve always been drawn to helping and supporting people. I studied International Aid and Development at university, so to volunteer my time and skills is something I am very passionate about”. Tom cycled a gruelling 200km to raise funds and awareness for kids cancer research, with each dollar donated by Origin’s employees being matched by the Origin Energy Foundation. Tom said “I attribute the longevity and the enthusiasm I have for my work and Origin to the Origin Energy Foundation and their matched giving program. It’s good to know I work for a company that shares the same set of values as I do”.
It’s with people like Tom that the Origin Energy Foundation’s matched giving program can continue to support the community. The Origin Energy Foundation matches around $400,000 in employee donations each year. Tom said, “it’s programs like this that keep me giving my best to our customers
