6 ways to treat your mum this Mother’s Day

Although Mother’s Day might look a little different this year, you can still show mum how much she means to you.

Whether you’re with mum or apart on May 10, we have a few suggestions to spread some good energy and make her day that extra bit special.

1. Write a letter

If your mum’s anything like mine, she’s probably kept every homemade card, drawing and letter you’ve written for her. Unlike fleeting text messages and emails, a letter can feel much more personal and is something that your mum can hold onto forever. If you’re unsure where to start, try writing a list of things that you love about her. There are many ways to express your feelings towards your Mum, so get your fancy stationery out and let her know what she means to you.

2. Send a gift

Can’t be with mum this Mother’s Day? Why not send a gift to let her know you’re thinking of her. You can’t go wrong with the classics, like a bunch of flowers or a sweet treat. 3. Gather the whole family online

Mother’s Day presents the perfect excuse to jump on a video call! Being able to see each other will no doubt brighten both her day and yours. There are heaps of video call options, including Skype, Zoom and House Party. If you’re using Zoom and want to step it up a notch, you can add a personal touch by downloading a virtual Happy Mother’s Day background.

4. Watch Mum’s favourite movie

Nothing says “I love you” like surrendering control of the remote, getting cosy, and putting on your mum’s favourite movie. You can still do this, even if you’re apart. With options like Netflix Party, you can synchronise movie streaming on multiple screens. You can also communicate through their chat bar, so you can react, comment and let each other know when you’re laughing at the funny bits.

5. Breakfast in bed

There’s nothing more satisfying than waking up to the smell of a freshly cooked breakfast while having the luxury of being in the comfort of your own bed. Breakfast in bed is the perfect way to celebrate, if you’re up for the challenge of waking up before mum and truly spoiling her this Mother’s Day. My go-to breakfast is Banana Pancakes! 6. Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are always a fun activity and from my experience, mums are always the best at putting them together. This Mother’s day, why not flip it on its head and create one just for her? With a few thoughtful clues and hidden prizes around the house, you’ll create a special moment mum won’t forget.
