Calling all energy start-ups

We’re looking for great energy innovators to take part in a global start-up open innovation program

Innovation and good energy go hand-in-hand and Origin Energy is proud to be a co-founder of the global Free Electrons program – helping to unearth some of the world’s smartest clean energy start-ups.

Over the last three years, more than 1,500 start-ups applied to be part of the program that helps entrepreneurial companies bring their ideas to life while working with 10 leading energy utilities from around the world.

Applications for Free Electrons 2020 are open and we want to see the best Australian start-ups get the opportunity to take part in the program.

The top 12 will participate in four modules held around the world, in Singapore, Sao Paolo and Dubai, with Origin to host the Sydney module in June.

Finalists will be able to test their solutions, develop pilots, get feedback, gain exposure and build their networks during the program.

The winning company will be awarded US$200,000 to kickstart its vision. The real value of the program however is the potential avenue to market through the millions of customers of each of the utilities.

Origin Executive General Manager Future Energy and Business Development Tony Lucas said, “We are proud to have been a founding partner of Free Electrons and want to support Australian businesses with bright ideas to develop their innovations. I’m encouraging local start-ups to apply to be part of the 2020 cohort.” Entries for Free Electrons 2020 close on 31 January 2020, so if you are an start-up with a great energy innovation.
