Origin Energy and Netball Australia have announced a new community partnership that will help support the ongoing growth of the sport from the grassroots level all the way through to the national team.

As part of a three-year partnership, Origin will invest in all levels of the game as community partner for Netball Australia and all state leagues. Origin will become naming rights partner of the national team, which will be known as the Origin Australian Diamonds, and sponsor seven of the eight Suncorp Super Netball teams.

Marne Fechner, CEO, Netball Australia said, “We’re delighted to welcome Origin to the Australian netball family and look forward to working on a partnership that will touch so many different facets of the game, from grassroots to the elite.”

“As Australia’s highest participation sport for girls and women, we’re thrilled that a key element of this partnership will focus on supporting netball’s grassroots, ensuring people from all across the nation can be involved in our great sport.”

Frank Calabria, CEO, Origin Energy said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Netball Australia to support a much-loved Australian sport and players at all levels across the country – from local clubs right through to the world-leading Australian Diamonds.”

“Netball clubs are such an important part of our local communities, and Origin is excited to be working with Netball Australia to support the players, coaches, umpires and volunteers that are the lifeblood of the sport.”

The world number-one ranked Origin Australian Diamonds will make their next appearance in the Netball Bushfire Relief match in Sydney on 1 March where they are playing against a Suncorp Super Netball All Star team.

Origin and their employees have so far donated more than $870,000 to support communities impacted by the bushfires and drought. Origin has also set aside $4 million for a bushfire relief package to help impacted customers get back on their feet.
