Origin to appoint Mick McCormack to its Board
Origin Energy Limited (Origin) has announced the appointment of Mr Mick McCormack to the Company’s Board as independent Non-executive Director, effective from 17 December 2020.
Mr McCormack is Non-executive Director of Austal Limited and Chairman of Central Petroleum Limited. He is also Chairman of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra Foundation and a director of the Clontarf Foundation.
Mr McCormack was previously Managing Director and CEO of APA Group (2005-2019) and has more than 36 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including gas-fired and renewable energy power generation, gas processing, LNG and underground storage. Prior to joining APA in 2000, Mr McCormack held various senior management roles with AGL Energy.
Mr McCormack holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma of Engineering from Monash University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Queensland.
Origin Chairman, Mr Scott Perkins said, “We are delighted to welcome Mick to the Origin Board, as we continue our process of Board renewal. Mick’s extensive knowledge of the Australian energy and infrastructure sectors and deep operational and strategic experience will further strengthen the Origin Board and complement the expertise of the existing Directors in oversight of the Company.”
Mr McCormack will stand for election at Origin’s Annual General Meeting in 2021.

Origin progresses plans for nation’s largest battery at Eraring Power Station
Origin Energy Limited (Origin) is progressing plans for a battery at Eraring Power Station in NSW, with an overall capacity of up to 700 MW and a dispatch duration of 4 hours, making it the largest battery project currently under consideration in Australia.
