Origin Chairman Gordon Cairns to retire, Scott Perkins nominated as Chairman-elect
Origin Energy Limited (Origin) today announced that Mr Gordon Cairns will retire as Chairman and Director after the company's Annual General Meeting on 20 October 2020. Mr Cairns has been Chairman of Origin since October 2013.
Mr Scott Perkins has been elected to succeed Mr Cairns as the Chairman of the Board.
Mr Cairns said, “Being the Chairman of Origin for the past seven years has been a privilege. I would like to thank the management team, led by our CEO Frank Calabria, and all my colleagues at Origin for their commitment to our shareholders, customers and communities. I also thank my fellow Board members for their support and counsel.
“I am pleased to be leaving the business in a strong financial and operational position and well placed to continue to prosper in the future. Origin will have an excellent new Chairman in Scott Perkins, with his deep knowledge of the company, extensive breadth and depth of experience as a non-executive director and as a former advisor in corporate strategy, mergers, acquisitions and capital markets.”
Mr Perkins said, “The strong position Origin is in is testament to Gordon’s leadership and the skill and dedication of our people. On behalf of the Board and management, I would like to thank Gordon for his contribution to Origin over many years. I consider it a great privilege to serve as Chairman of such a successful Australian company. While there are unquestionably near term challenges facing our community and economy, Origin is resilient and well placed to navigate through these times. I look forward to working closely with Frank, our management team and my Board colleagues to enable Origin to reach its full potential.”
Mr Perkins joined the Board in September 2015. He is a member of the Audit, Remuneration and People, Health, Safety and Environment, Risk and Nomination committees.
Mr Perkins is a non-executive Director of Woolworths Limited and Brambles Limited. He was previously a Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and a non-executive Director of Meridian Energy. Mr Perkins is a longstanding supporter of breast cancer causes, the visual arts and public policy development. Mr Perkins holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Auckland University.

Origin expects to recognise non-cash charges for FY2021 and issues guidance for FY2022
Origin Energy Limited (Origin) expects to recognise non-cash post-tax charges of $2,247 million in its FY2021 Statutory Income Statement to be released with its full-year results on 19 August 2021. Origin has also issued guidance for FY2022.
