Contact confirms completion of sale of former New Plymouth power station site
Contact Energy Limited (Contact) today confirmed the conclusion of the sale process for the site of the former New Plymouth power station for a total of $24m.
Port Taranaki today takes ownership of the majority of the site, which is adjacent to their current operations, for $15.5m. This follows completion last week of the sale of a smaller portion of the site to Methanex New Zealand for $8.5m.
Dennis Barnes, Contact’s Chief Executive said that “Contact is delighted that the site has been sold to two Taranaki-based businesses that will use it to further grow and develop their operations, benefiting the local economy. We are proud of our long-standing involvement in the Taranaki region which continues through our operation of the Stratford Power Station and Ahuroa Gas Storage facility.”

Price review outcome and update on FY2021 guidance
