Indigenous Employee Network

The Indigenous Employee Network (IEN) is a supportive place for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees to connect and engage with each other, discuss topics, share stories and knowledge. It’s a culturally safe space to find peer-to-peer support. The IEN is sponsored by and closely connected to the Executive Leadership Team, so there’s a direct line for the IEN to provide input to business decisions relating to Reconciliation.

Paid Cultural Leave

We offer 3 days paid Cultural Leave to all our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, to support their family and community obligations and to participate in ceremonial, cultural or religious activities.

Origin Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan

We’re committed to Australia’s reconciliation journey. To keep building on our 2015 Reconciliation Action plan, we’ve been discussing and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and our employees.

Here’s what our people have to say about working at Origin…

Chalmers Tabua
Terminal Operator

“So far, I have become more comfortable to what I belong to as an Indigenous Australian not needing to ignore the heritage of my father’s side but take it with open arms with the growth and support from the RAP and IEN members.

The more non-Indigenous employees learn and read about Indigenous Australians the easier it will become to gain the respect and acknowledgement our elders, past, present deserve.”

Leah Cummins
Senior technical assistant

“Origin is a great place to work, the people are amazing, I have always felt included and listened too. There is fantastic support as an Indigenous employee and inclusive of me as a female Indigenous person.”

“Our vision for reconciliation is to bring our purpose to life for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their communities. We aspire to embed reconciliation across Origin through respectful and mutually beneficial partnerships with Australia’s First Peoples.”
