Winners announced
It is with great pleasure that we announce the Garden of Eden Plant Nursery as the final winner of the Origin/3AW Small Business Awards.
The award was presented to Sean Dahan live on air during Neil Mitchell's morning program on 3AW on 27 October 2008.
We understand that running a business is hard work. Harder than most people get credit for. Together with 3AW, we took this opportunity to acknowledge the commitment and achievements by encouraging businesses to share their story through the Origin/3AW Small Business Awards!
These awards,launched on 1st October 2007, were open to small businesses in Victoria with up to 20 employees. Ineligible businesses included those who are listed, 50% or more owned by another company, majority Government funded or a Government agency or part of a larger group.
One small business each month was awarded live on air as part of the Neil Mitchell morning programme on 3AW. The winner was joined by the Minister for Small Business, Hon. Joe Helper who officially presented the award.
In addition to free publicity for the business and recognition amongst the small business community, winners also received:- A Weekend Escape Package at the award winning Boroka Downs
- a five star, nature based resort in Halls Gap! The package includes:
- Late checkout
- Bottle of Seppelts Salinger
- Continental Breakfast hamper each morning
- Aesop hair and body products; and
- Range of passes and discounts to local attractions
- $1000 Officeworks Gift Card; and
- 3 sessions of mentoring with the Small Business Mentoring Service

If you missed out on the Origin/3AW Small Business Awards, don’t despair. The 2009 Banksia Foundation Environmental Awards will now feature a category specifically for small to medium-sized businesses.
Established in 1989, the Banksia Foundation’s Environmental Awards program has grown to become Australia’s most credible and prestigious awards for recognising environmental excellence.
Origin has had a strong association with the Foundation since 2006, and is proud to sponsor the pinnacle of the Awards program, the Origin Gold Banksia Award, which is only open to one of the night’s category winners.
