Progress and Status
Origin Energy, on behalf of the T/18P Joint Venture, advises that as at 06:00 hours EDT on Thursday 14 January 2010 the current operation at Rockhopper 1 is preparing a forward plan to carry out repairs to the cranes on the Kan Tan IV drilling rig. During the past week damage was discovered to the rig cranes and operations were suspended.
Repair procedures are being finalised and equipment and personnel are being mobilised. It is expected that repairs and approvals will take approximately two weeks to complete. During this period of suspension, the rig hire is on zero rate.
All drilling and data collection operations associated with the Rockhopper 1 well were successfully completed and the well plugged back ready for sidetrack prior to identification of this damage. The rig will commence operations on the sidetrack well Rockhopper 1/ST 1 once repairs are completed.
Well type and location
Rockhopper 1 is an exploration well located in exploration permit T/18P, operated by Origin some 38km west of the Yolla gas field and approximately 10km north-north-east of Trefoil 1.
