Adelaide is one of seven regions in Australia specially chosen to trial exciting new approaches to producing and using energy as part of the Australian Government's Solar Cities program.
We're proud to be a leader in this innovative program, working in partnership with all levels of government, companies and our community to help build a more sustainable future in our cities. Salisbury, Tea Tree Gully, Playford and Adelaide City council areas make up the specially chosen trial area.

- New Adelaide Solar City Energy Plan for electricity
- Thousands of Smart Meters will be installed at no cost to eligible Solar City residents choosing to take advantage of the cost and energy-saving benefits of the Adelaide Solar City Energy Plan*.
- Residents and businesses in the Adelaide Solar City region will be offered attractive incentives to switch to green power products.
- The latest solar photovoltaic systems will be installed in five well-known local buildings to use the sun’s energy to generate electricity.
- Innovative finance packages will be offered to local residents to make household solar PV systems more affordable.
- Energy-efficiency audits to help residents and businesses understand how they can save energy, money and the environment.
