Overview

At 2,880 MW, Eraring Power Station is the largest power station in Australia. Fuelled by black coal, it is a highly efficient and flexible power station that plays a crucial role in maintaining a reliable supply of electricity to NSW.

History

Construction of Eraring Power Station started in 1977. The first generating unit went into service in 1982, the second and third units in 1983, and the fourth unit was commissioned in 1984.

Location

Eraring Power Station is on the western shore of Lake Macquarie, 30km south-west of Newcastle.
