Dinwoodie Ave, Clarence Gardens, SA
Some of us have lived on Dinwoodie Avenue for a while, and many are newer families to the street. Together we are getting involved and making it 'our place'. Dinwoodie Avenue has lots of home renovations on the go, kids, pets, interesting characters and friendly faces - and we all love living here.
When compiling our entry it became evident that our neighbours are already trying hard to 'do their bit'. Everyone is passionate about sustainability and can see the benefits for the environment and our hip pockets.
The best part of putting this entry together was how it got us all talking about sustainability, sharing our ‘green’ tips and has brought our ownership of looking after the environment to the front of our minds.
There is a real sentiment that everyone wants to keep doing better. For many, the big items like solar power have been out of reach (money wise) or on the 'to do list'... but now everyone has plans to work towards a more sustainable household.
So here we submit a video summarising what we’re doing, what we learnt and it highlights how 'we wish we could do more’ …and will continue to work towards that! -
Wilga Ave, Dulwich Hill, NSW
The residents of Central Place, Wodonga, are extremely enthusiastic about Origin’s Sustainability Competition. We’re passionate about a better and “greener” future and committed to improving the way we use energy.
One of our residents, opened their home, during the “Sustainable Homes’ Open Day”, last year; attracting over 100 people, including many neighbours.
Many residents are founding members of the “Friends’ Of Willow Park organisation and are involved with “Water Watch” and “Clean Up Australia Days”. We have immense community spirit, have won the “Best Garden Street competition”, in consecutive years and socialize regularly.
Our street is aptly named; we’re central to schools, parks; the CBD. We live on a green belt, enjoying an abundance of natural resources, many sunny days, (the average summer temperature is 29c) and we’re nestled in the Victorian High Country, along side the Murray River.
Our unique position, with (16 residents), adjoining Willow Park, with its excellent bike/walking paths, would provide high public visibility of Sustainable Energy, technologies and signage.
We believe the opportunity offered by Origin, is a once in a life time chance to improve the way we use renewable energies and we have a broader aim to educate and assist others. -

Hendry St, Tewantin, QLD
Hendry Street should become Australia's first Sustainability Drive because we are doing our best to be environmentally friendly and to teach our kids to practice sustainable lifestyles, but we know we could do more.
Winning this competition would give us the opportunity to do more. Hendry Street is a mix of young families and elderly pensioners and as such both groups would benefit enormously from some help with their power bills - but ultimately this is about taking positive steps towards helping the planet.
We are a tight-knit community and the great thing about this project is that it has brought us all even closer together and we thank you for this! -
