Our Commitment

Origin respects the rights and interest of the communities in which we operate by working safely and being mindful of, and attentive to, the environmental and social impact of the resources, products and services we use or provide to others.

Employment

On average, there are 40 Origin staff based at the site, which consists of day and shift workers. There are additional contractors based onsite but numbers will vary based on work load and projects at any given time. In addition to site based personnel and contractors, there are approximately 50 employees based in Melbourne supporting the Otway and BassGas assets under the Southern Australia Assets umbrella.

The Otway Gas Project team endeavours to employ or contract local industry and suppliers when possible.

Maintaining open dialogue

Origin aims to have constant dialogue with our immediate neighbours at Otway. We facilitate a very active community reference group, which meets on a bi-monthly basis. Typical agenda items include health, safety and the environment, production updates and community sponsorship opportunities. Members have included the regulatory agencies such as EPA, Dept of Primary Industry (DPI) Worksafe VIC, local council, local residents and Origin.

Investing in the community

Origin is committed to promoting and assisting the interests of the communities in which we operate. Community activities in which Origin has been involved in recent years include tree planting through environmental groups such as Landcare as well as supporting local sporting clubs and groups.
