The Project

The Otway Gas Project is designed for average production of 60 petajoules of natural gas per annum (PJ/a), together with approximately 100,000 tonnes of LPG and approximately 800,000 barrels of condensate per annum. The maximum operating capacity of the onshore plant is approximately 205 terajoules per day (equivalent to 75 PJ/a).

The plant is part of a local gas industry hub that includes processing capabilities for the Minerva and Casino developments, as well as the Iona underground gas storage facility. The hub is also the junction of natural gas pipelines to Adelaide, Melbourne and Origin's new Mortlake gas fired power station which is located approximately 70 kilometres to the north.

A number of discovered and as yet undeveloped fields are also present in the region, including the Halladale and Black Watch fields owned by Origin. These two fields are currently being assessed for production viability.
