Wind farm development

Wind is a powerful energy resource and Australia is rated as having one of the best wind resources in the world. Wind farms are capable of generating energy with zero carbon emissions.

Origin has been an active participant in the wind sector since early 2000 when Australia’s first commercial wind farm was opened at Codrington in Victoria – with the offtake fully contracted to Origin.

In 2009, Origin celebrated the opening of its first wind farm, the 30 MW Cullerin Range Wind Farm in NSW, which generates renewable energy.

Wind farms assist Origin in meeting its obligations under the Federal Government's Mandatory Renewable Energy Target and also contribute to the significant renewable energy positions held by Origin in Australia and New Zealand.
