Origin and the Quarantine Community
Our Commitment
Origin respects the rights and interest of the communities in which we operate by working safely and being mindful of, and attentive to, the environmental and social impact of the resources, products and services we use or provide to others.
Employment
Quarantine Power Station employs six people full time and also has two part time employees to operate the facility. During the Quarantine expansion more than 130 people were employed.
Investing in the community
The team at Quarantine works closely with the neighbouring business community, as well as the local council, airport and environmental authorities regarding the Power Station’s activities and to offer support to different community initiatives.
Employees from Quarantine Power Station and Origin’s Adelaide office volunteered with Conservation Volunteers Australia at the Torrens Island Conservation Park. Together, they undertook work to help conserve the native flora in the surrounding area and to encourage revegetation.
Origin also sponsors Flotilla for Kids, an annual charity event managed by the Rotary Club of Adelaide. This event allows children living with cancer to spend a day being a pirate, skippering a boat or going in search of dolphins as they make their way up the Port River on a boat with their families. Money raised from the event supports children living with cancer.
