Taking Energy Safety Week to the stage

The Caves State School, QLD – Years 3 & 4

We’re finding creative ways to teach our local community how they can stay safe around gas and electricity in the kitchen.

To learn about energy safety, we:

• discussed safety hazards in the kitchen and how to use appliances properly
• created a model kitchen to practice energy safe behaviour
• wrote raps about different appliances explaining their uses, sounds and their dangers.

We’re encouraging others to use energy safely, by:

• writing and performing our energy safety raps and role plays at school assembly
• making a two minute video of some of the role play situations demonstrated during our assembly presentation
• sharing our messages with the community through our local newspaper * (190KB)
