Switching off lights & switching on awareness

St Mel’s Primary School, Shepparton VIC – Whole school

We’re turning off lights to learn how easy it is to use energy more efficiently around school and at home.

To learn about energy efficiency, we:

• participated in a one day event where we turned off all the school lights
• had senior students calculate how much energy was used up by the lights in classrooms.

We’re encouraging others to use energy efficiently, by:

• creating an energy efficiency video to share with others
• decorating graffiti boards to share energy efficiency messages with the community.
