Online usage information questions
Where can I find the National Meter Identification or NMI number?
You can find the National Meter Identification or NMI number on the back of an electricity bill, usually at the top. The NMI number is an 11 digit, unique number and is the identification number for your electricity supply address.
What are my login details?
To log into the www.originenergy.com.au/your-power online usage pages please use your NMI number as your account login and your surname as your password. At this stage there is no facility to change your password.
Can I use capital letters in the password?
No, you cannot use capital letters when you enter the password on the login page. Your password should be lower case only. You should not use any spaces or numbers in your password
How do I best view the online usage information?
After you have logged onto the online usage information pages you will be taken to the “start” page which will show your electricity usage from the day before today’s date.
I have trouble logging into the online usage information pages or I get logged out every time
There are two possible fixes to prevent you from logging in or being logged out every time.
-
Depending on what kind or internet browser you use it is a matter of switching on "Accept Cookies" in the preferences. To switch on “Accept Cookies, open the internet browser i.e. Internet Explorer. Go to the Tools menu. Choose Internet Option. Click on the Privacy tab and drag the slider bar on the left to the bottom - which means accept all cookies. This will allow all cookies and hopefully prevents the problem from occurring. It is common for web based applications like this, that cookies are required.
If you do not want to allow all cookies for security reasons - than another possibility is described below in option 2 below.
-
Another possibility may be to specify an exception in the browser preferences and provide " www.centurion.com.au " as an exception. To provide this exception, open the internet browser i.e. Internet Explorer and go to the Tools menu. Choose Internet Option. Please click on the Privacy tab. You may drag the slider on the right to e.g. the middle (which is medium security) or even almost to the top i.e. high security. This will enable another button on the Privacy tab located at the bottom right called "edit". Click on the edit button. Enter the web address: www.centurion.com.au as the web address in the white bar. Next, please click: "allow". Click OK at the bottom of the active window. Please click “apply” on the open window and close the window. It should now work fine as well and you should be able to log in without any problems.
If you still experience problems after making any of the changes outlined please complete the enquiry form on the login page or any of the other page online usage pages. You should be provided with a prompt response.
What does the carbon emissions graph mean?
The carbon emissions graph shows you how much carbon emissions (also known as greenhouse gas emissions) have been produced by your electricity consumption. The less electricity you use the less greenhouse gas emissions you generate. The greenhouse gas emissions are calculated using a state specific greenhouse gas emissions factor. For South Australia the greenhouse gas emissions factor is 0.98kg of CO2e per kilowatt hour (kWh). This means that for every kilowatt hour of electricity you consume, 0.98kg of CO2e (greenhouse gas emissions) is emitted into the atmosphere. An average South Australian household consuming 5,000kWh per year produces 4,900kg of CO2e emissions or 4.9 tonnes of CO2e emissions. This calculation is used as the basis to derive the carbon emissions graph. For further information on the greenhouse gas emissions factors please visit climatechange.gov.au/workbook/
Please note: If you are on a GreenPower product you will be able to see the reduced impact your choice of GreenPower has in the carbon emissions graph. If you e.g. have chosen a 25% GreenPower contribution your carbon emissions will be 25% less.
Can I see my Solar Panel generation on the electricity consumption graphs?
You can not truly see your solar panel generation on the electricity consumption graphs as this will only show what has been exported back into the electricity grid i.e. net consumption. You are not able to see how much your panel actually produced via the electricity consumption graphs. Use the drop down at the top right side (after you have logged into the “your power” website) and choose Solar Net, to view the net export to the electricity grid. You can select to view your Solar Net production per day, month or year.
Smart meter FAQs
What is a smart meter†?
A smart meter† is an advanced type of meter (usually electrical) that identifies consumption in more detail than a conventional meter (typically half hourly consumption data) and may communicate that information back to the local utility for monitoring and billing purposes.
How can I read the smart meter†?
You will receive a How to read your smart meter† (397KB) instruction booklet at the time when your smart meter† is installed.
Can I see my solar panel generation on the smart meter†?
Yes, you are able to see your solar generation on the smart meter†. Depending on the type of meter not all fields on the display of the smart meter† may be available. If your meter is set up for solar generation you can view the generation from the solar for the current and previous calendar month. Please read the “How to read your smart meter†” document provided above.
What happens with the standard manually read electricity meter?
The standard manually read electricity meter will be removed and replaced by the smart meter†.
Can the old electricity meter be re-installed again?
The same old electricity meter will not be re-installed again. If you would change electricity retailers from Origin to another retailer, the other retailer may not be able to provide you a service and they may choose to replace the meter with another one.
Somebody came out to read the meter, why?
If someone came out to read your meter, this may be a misunderstanding. The smart meter† does not need to be read manually anymore as all the electricity consumption data is electronically transferred back to the local utility for monitoring and billing purposes. The meter reader may not have been updated by the network distribution company about the meter change at your property.
My bill does not match up to the smart meter† information online or with the meter information, why?
That is correct. The bill will never exactly match up with what the information recorded online or on your meter. The two key reasons why the information does not entirely match up are firstly because the bill data is aggregated and may not take into account exactly the same period as per the online usage or smart meter† information. Secondly, the data appearing on your bill has been validated for possible errors or inaccuracies which may mean there is not an exact match with the online usage or smart meter† data.
Adelaide Solar Cities energy plan FAQs
Which Smart Electricity pricing plan best suits my energy needs?
There are two Smart electricity pricing options to choose from - Smart time of use and dynamic saver. Which one works for you? Consider the following for some help in deciding:
Do you have off-peak electric hot water or multiple electrical appliances that run overnight?
If you answered ‘yes’, then our Smart time of use options will offer you a cheaper electricity rate during off peak times.
Do you have electric heating?
As electric heating is more commonly used during the colder months, our Smart time of use seasonal option means you’ll pay a lower rate during the non-summer period, between 1 April and 31 December.
Do you have neither electric hot water or heating?
If you have no electric hot water or heating, our Dynamic Saver option may be a better choice.
Am I locked into a contract?
No you are not locked into a contract. You can leave at any time provided you have notified Origin in advance.
Is there an exit fee on my contract?

Why do I have to complete the Solar City data questionnaire?
We ask you to complete the Solar City data questionnaire to help us better understand how you use energy. The electricity usage data will be used by the Federal Department of Energy, Water, Heritage and Arts (DEWHA) to help determine future climate change and energy policies. Your information will be treated with confidence and is subject to the privacy act.
What happens if I do not complete the Solar City data questionnaire?
If you do not complete the Solar City data questionnaire we are not able to process your energy plan any further and the smart meter† will not be installed at your supply address. If you are transferring from another retailer, your transfer will be cancelled.
How does the electricity meter get changed?
After you have signed up to one of the Adelaide Solar City energy plans and we have received your completed Solar City Questionnaire, the meter provider will go out and install your meter. Allow at least 8-10 weeks from the date you accepted the Smart Energy Plan for the meter installer to come and install the smart meter†.
Can I change my mind after the meter has been installed?
After the meter has been installed you can change your mind however there should be no reason to. With your new smart meter† you can enjoy the features of your Smart Electricity tariffs like access to cheaper than normal rates for certain periods, being able to track your usage and greenhouse gas emissions and making smarter use of your electricity consumption.
Can I choose GreenPower accredited electricity with the Smart energy plans?
