Replace

When it’s time to buy new appliances or light globes, you can reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by choosing products that are energy efficient.

Replace regular light globes with low-energy CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) globes.

Replace your old showerhead with a water-saving showerhead. This will significantly reduce your hot-water use.

When replacing old appliances, look out for items which use less power and have a good energy-efficiency rating. New appliances will display an energy rating label. This label rates the product out of six stars for the model’s energy efficiency. The more stars, the more efficient the product. The energy rating label also gives an estimate of the amount of energy the appliance will use in one year.

Find out more about energy ratings at energyrating.gov.au .

You can also replace carbon emitting activities with low carbon activities.

  • Replace your electric toothbrush with a normal toothbrush.
  • Replace vacuuming with sweeping.
