Residential Energy Efficiency Scheme
Helping you become Energy Smart
Origin is working with the South Australian Government on the Residential Energy Efficiency Scheme, to help you save energy and money. This scheme is known as the REES or Energy Smart scheme.
As part of the scheme we will conduct in-home assessments, and as part of the assessments arrange installation of energy efficient products and provide you with advice on a range of ways to become more energy efficient. Naturally the more energy efficient your home is the more you can save.
Green Your Home
If you’d like to save up to $100^ off your energy usage a year then let us come and Green Your Home.
Simply by switching to our Green Your Home energy plan*, our energy experts will visit your home to supply and install, free of charge*:
- Energy efficient light globes, replacing all incandescent globes other than down lights. Energy efficient light globes can use up to 80% less energy than incandescent globes, and produce just as much light.
- 3 star rated water saving showerheads, if you have an electric hot water showerhead with a 2 star rating or less. Installing a water efficient showerhead could cut your water use by over 13,000 litres per year~.
And they’ll do it all at a time that suits you, 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
Our Green Your Home energy plan comes with a choice of green energy options including Origin’s Government accredited GreenPower product and Australia’s first green gas product.
GreenPower comes from renewable sources (like wind and solar) that release no or low amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, so you can be sure you’re doing your bit to reduce your impact on the environment.
To start saving now, call us on 13 GREEN to organise your complimentary* in-home assessment.

ˆ Energy saving does not include the cost of GreenPower which starts from $1 per week.
Energy saving is based on the average number of globes replaced in each premises and assuming the energy efficient light globes
replace 75W globes where 6 lights are used for 4 hours a day and 8 lights are used for 0.5 hours a day.
~ Calculation based on a medium sized household of 3 to 4 people who shower for an average of 7 minutes each, replacing a standard
flow 20 litre/minute shower rose with a 3 star shower rose with a maximum flow of 9 litres per minute.
