Energy Efficiency Opportunities Obligations

Enacted in 2006, Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) is a mandatory Federal Government initiative requiring businesses using more than 0.5 petajoules of energy each year to assess opportunities to improve the efficiency of their energy use.

Under the EEO program, businesses are required to identify, evaluate and report publicly on cost effective opportunities to save energy.

Origin’s key EEO achievements to date

We have developed an integrated response to the Government’s EEO program in the form of our Carbon Efficiency Program. Under this program, six workshops have been held to identify opportunities for carbon and energy efficiencies in our Exploration and Production business. We are investigating the key initiatives identified in these workshops and following detailed evaluation, will prepare business cases for those considered most favourable.
