Switch™Awards
2008 winners announced
The Switch™ Awards reward schools for participating in any activity that engages their community in energy safety or energy efficiency and the environment.
There are two categories.
- Switch and Tell for energy safety
- Switch and Shout for energy efficiency and the environment
There were 190 entries from across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria. Each was judged by independent
judges and points awarded for:
- Creativity and innovation
- Enthusiasm
- Effectiveness
- Relevance
- Sharing of knowledge with the community

Prizes
The 2008 winners shared in prizes worth $86,000 in total, including
- two landscaped, eco friendly gardens
- a solar system* with electronic monitoring
- school energy use reviews
- carbon offsets
- cash grants
All participating students received a certificate.
* Please note: the solar system prize was awarded to the school that demonstrated the most significant impact on their audience. This could be shown through audience feedback, measurement of energy savings, number of people signed up to a pledge or number of safe practices adopted.
