Freshwater Point 1 Exploration Well
Origin has completed the drilling program for exploration well, Freshwater Point 1, within the Origin held exploration permit (413) in accordance with the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) Approval (Ministerial Statement No.763) and Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR) Approval (No.E0028/200801).
The main objective of the Freshwater Point 1 well was to investigate a geological structure (High Cliff Sandstone), which may have contained petroleum hydrocarbons. The drilling program was unsuccessful in finding commercially viable petroleum hydrocarbons within the targeted formation and as such was plugged and abandoned. The drilling activities including site reinstatement and rehabilitation works were completed on 6 July 2008.
In accordance with the Ministerial Statement, Origin is required to prepare annual environmental compliance reports (ECR).
