Curriculum connections

Energy Savers has been designed for Years 5-6, with strong links to the New South Wales Curriculum Framework, Queensland Core Learning Outcomes, South Australian (SACSA) Framework and Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) curricula.

New South Wales (NSW)*

The New South Wales Key Learning Areas (KLAs), including the key learning areas of science, technology, HSIE, english, mathematics and the creative arts are covered in Energy Savers.

Queensland (QLD)

The Queensland Core Learning Outcomes (CLOs), key learning areas of science, mathematics, SOSE, technology, english and visual arts are addressed in Energy Savers.

South Australia (SA)

The South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability Framework (SACSAF) learning areas of science, mathematics and english are addressed through the Calculate section and Communicate supports learning outcomes in the additional areas of the arts and/or design and technology.

Victoria (VIC)

All three Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) strands – physical, personal and social learning, discipline-based learning and interdisciplinary learning are addressed in Energy Savers.

Some of the activities could be modified for use in Years 3-4, while teachers of Years 7-9 are referred to the companion resource Home Energy Project for additional learning.
