Help the AFL and our environment by going Green for Footy® with Origin.
Plus you'll also score a complimentaryˆ in-home assessment, which could save you up to $100 on your energy bills* each year by making your home more energy efficient.
Our energy experts will come to your home and supply and install:
- three star rated electric hot water saving showerheads, replacing those with two star ratings or less, as well as
- energy efficient light globes, replacing all incandescent light globes (excluding down lights)
And they’ll do it all on the spot, when they visit your home, at a time that suits you – 7am - 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
We’ll help Australia's great game go green too!
By choosing a Green for Footy energy plan, we’ll contribute $27.50 (inc. GST) to the AFL or your favourite participating club to help them offset their greenhouse gas emissions through Origin's Carbon Reduction Scheme™. Now that's good for football, and great for our environment.
Best of all, we'll even kick in a Sherrin® footy - exclusive to the Green for Footy energy plan.
Here are some questions we are asked most about Green for Footy:
How will I be doing my bit for the environment?
With Green for Footy, you’ll help reduce your number of greenhouse gas emission by choosing 25%, 50% or 100% Government accredited GreenPower.
Plus you can choose to make an even bigger difference with Australia’s first Green Gas, where we estimate the emissions produced by your natural gas consumption and offset them, by the tonne, through our independently audited Carbon Reduction Scheme™.
And like with all of our Energy Plans you have a range of convenient payment options to choose from, including payment via Direct Debit, BPAY® View, online and over the phone - just to name a few.
How is Origin helping the AFL to make a difference to our environment?
In a ground breaking initiative, we formally joined forces with the AFL in 2007 to help the AFL be the first sporting league in the world to report zero net greenhouse gas emissions.
Since then, we’ve helped the AFL and ten of it’s clubs offset approximately 63,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, with 37,000 footy fans having joined our Green for Footy program.
The AFL Green program will continue to play hard over the next two years to help offset an estimated 120,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions generated by AFL House, the NAB Cup, and the Toyota AFL Premiership Season and Final Series matches.
Which AFL clubs are participating in Green for Footy?
It’s great that many clubs have joined with us and the AFL to help make a difference to our environment. We’re both excited and proud to be working with the following clubs - Western Bulldogs, Geelong Cats, Carlton, Adelaide Crows, North Melbourne, Collingwood, Melbourne, Richmond and St Kilda.
