Employment and business
Employment of the construction workforce and procurement of goods and services for the proposed Mortlake power station project will be the responsibility of the contractors engaged by Origin to construct the project. Origin will not be a direct employer during the construction phase.
Origin will not be a direct employer or procurer of goods and services. However, it is Origin's preference that its contractors employ and procure locally where possible.
Bilfinger Berger Services (Aust) Pty Ltd has seen selected as the major contractor for the construction of the Mortlake Power Station. This contract includes the supply, design, procurement and installation for the power station's civil, structural, mechanical and electricial works. Bilfinger Berger has established an online register at regionalindustrylink.com.au to enable local people and businesses to register their interest in employment and/or provision of goods and services for the power station construction.
The Mortlake Pipeline contract has been awarded to AJ Lucas Group Ltd. The pipeline will be constructed in the first half of 2009. Registrations of interest for pipeline construction employment can be sent to mortlake@lucas.com.au.
