Origin owns a 52.8% interest in Contact Energy. With around 566,000 electricity, gas and LPG customers, Contact is one of New Zealand’s largest energy retailers and generates around 25% of New Zealand’s electricity. Contact is listed on the New Zealand Stock Market, and has around 78,000 shareholders. It employs nearly 800 people and has its head office in Wellington.
