Renewable generation
Origin is investing in renewable technologies that produce power with low or no greenhouse gas emissions including:
- A pilot plant in South Australia to demonstrate Origin’s SLIVER
cell technology. The world-class technology aims to increase the availability
of solar power by dramatically reducing the amount of silicon required
in solar panels.
- An 8% interest and a 30% stake in a joint venture with Geodynamics Limited through a commitment of over $100m to develop its hot rock geothermal resource in South Australia’s Cooper Basin. Geodynamics is aiming to harvest the searing heat from about 4.5 km below the earth’s surface to generate clean electricity.

- Developing the Cullerin Range wind farm project, 30km west of Goulburn in NSW. This 30MW wind farm will play an important role in increasing renewable energy supplies in NSW.
- Permits to develop another two wind farm sites in NSW, including Conroy’s Gap (30MW) and Snowy Plains (30MW).
Origin sells Green Power to more customers in Australia than any other retailer. Green Power is generated from solar, wind and hydro sources, resulting in zero greenhouse gas emissions during power generation.
