Renewable energy developments
Origin generates renewable energy from Cullerin Range wind farm and we invest in a significant portfolio of renewable energy opportunities including wind, hydro, geothermal and solar photovoltaic technology. In addition, we provide customers with photovoltaic panels to generate solar energy.
In order to make meaningful reductions to Australia's carbon emissions from electricity generation, we need other solutions that can provide reliable and affordable renewable baseload energy.
Origin is committed to finding and developing new sources of energy for the future to assist us in meeting the growing demand for lower carbon emissions electricity generation.
Wind
Origin operates a wind farm at Cullerin Range in NSW and has a portfolio of wind development options of more than 3,000 MW. Find out more information on Origin's range of wind farm projects at various stages of development.
Hydro
Origin is evaluating the potential development of a renewable hydro electricity project at Wabo in Papua New Guinea with joint venture partner the PNG Sustainable Development Programme Ltd. Learn more about the PNG EDL joint venture.
Geothermal
One of the ways Origin invests in longer term renewable energy solutions is through the research and development of geothermal energy. Origin has interests in joint ventures in the Innamincka region of central Australia, as well as investments in New Zealand, Indonesia and Chile. Learn more about Origin's geothermal activities.
Solar power
Origin is pursuing the development of solar photovoltaic technology through a joint venture with Micron Technology Inc of the United States. Find out more about the Transform Solar joint venture, which is examining opportunities for the commercialisation of solar photovoltaic technology.
