Congratulations to Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses, the 2009 Origin Gold Banksia Award winner
By harnessing the waste heat from refrigeration systems, redistributing heat recovered from freshly baked products, employing hybrid vehicle technologies and offsetting the remaining emissions via tree planting, Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses have reduced their carbon footprint by over 5000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Since 2006 Origin has proudly supported the Banksia Environmental Foundation and their awards program, which recognises individuals and businesses for their positive contribution to the environment and sustainability. The Origin Gold Banksia Award is the pinnacle award in the program and can only be won by one of the awards program’s category winners.
Since they began in 1989, the Banksia Awards have built a reputation as one of Australia’s most credible environmental awards program, inspiring thousands of Australians to start or continue on their own sustainability journey.
