SLIVER technology
A revolutionary step in the development of Solar Photovoltaics
The award-winning SLIVER technology was invented and developed at the Australian National University’s Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems with financial support from Origin. A dedicated research and pilot manufacturing facility is located at Regency Park in Adelaide, South Australia.
A number of significant milestones have been achieved in the development of SLIVER technology. The R+D team has made significant inroads into the refinement of the manufacturing process and the manufacturing team has produced its first commercial panels designed for grid-connect applications. These panels have achieved international certification (IEC 61215 and 61730). We have produced limited volumes of these panels for installation at a few selected sites.
The development focus is on increasing the watts produced per wafer and the development of the various systems, products and processes that enable large scale manufacture. The team developing SLIVER technology at Origin’s Regency Park facility has a mix of backgrounds and experience including international high-tech semiconductor research and manufacturing, acclaimed academics, new venture development and skills honed in South Australia’s diverse manufacturing industry.
